Lighting is an integral component of both architecture and interior design. To design relevant luminous environments, it is not sufficient to state vague objectives such as "create a mood" and it is counter-productive to oversimplify objectives in purely numerical values, such as "deliver 70 footcandles at 30 inches above the floor". The key to creating exceptional luminous environments is using a "qualitative" approach to lighting design.
Radiant Design was formed in 1999 to fill the need of architects and designers seeking more than just "appropriate footcandle levels". Sensitive to form and space, aware of subtle moods and sensations, we work with designers to create truly notable spaces.
George Kruggel, President of Radiant Design, has been active in lighting design and electrical engineering since 1982. He has completed hundreds of succesful lighting installations, and has received numerous awards from his professional peers. George is past-president of the IES West Michigan Chapter and a member of the International Association of Lighting Designers (IALD). He remains active in regional lighting related activities.
